WELCOME TO SUREFOOT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARY
The school library is the heart of learning experience and educational activities within the school thus the library is committed to support the overall vision, mission and program of the school. Our commitment is demonstrated via the maintenance of library services geared towards retrieval, acquisition, preservation and dissemination of information in its various forms.
We pride ourselves with information resources to all categories of learners – age appropriate – from slow learners to high flyers; with rooms housing resources from Early years, Primary and Secondary school: The open stack and a Reading room area. The library’s resources is organized by subject on the shelve using the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme.
Our library is unique with valuable resource that give student the opportunity to experience new ideas, get lost in wonderful stories while at the same time providing a sense of place for gathering.
You can also visit our library module through the Visual Learning Education site (VLE) where users can search for resources available in the library through the Author, Subject and Title; give borrowing privilege and notification for due date to return library resources.
What we offer:
Support the teaching and learning programme of the school
Provide free access to library’s facility from 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday – Friday; allow users browse the shelves and stay for as long as they wish after school to chill out with a good book
Boasts of a standard and good range of books
Extended library hour to visit the library after school
Acquire relevant resources to meet the requirement of the school curricula and to enhance academic growth and development.
Assist pupil and students to develop skills in the use of books and libraries through scheduled library period for all year group.
Guide students in the course of relevant materials to study and to answer any user’s question.
Provide lending services i.e. allow students to borrow from our extensive fiction/non-fiction and visual materials to encourage and develop the love for reading.
Provide help to students in using the library resources at all times.
Procure latest teaching and learning materials in the form of books, CD, audio-visuals etc to improve teaching skills to teachers.
Procure Newspapers to keep students and teachers updated of the happenings in their environment and to encourage reading habit.
We aim at:
Providing a physical library space which connects readers and learners to their peers within the school and wider community.
Providing access to explore quality digital resources e.g. Encyclopedia Britannica.
